Work Beach Party

We had a really good beach party tonight at the beach close to my work. I sometimes do not appreciate what an amazing beach is just down the hill from my work! Various staff members bought along their families and we just sat around and yacked. Had a very refreshing swim.

Yep it has been a while again since I updated this. Just thought I’d write something tonight and see if this will spur me on.

Weekend will hopefully consist of study, cleaning, washing. Will catch up with my friend Tony for breakfast on Sunday morning then some ten pin bowling on Sunday night.

Christmas!

Sorry everyone as it has been literally ages since I updated this blog. Like everyone starting a blog, you start off with a great frenzy then the regularity of the posts begins to diminish. Well I have started again and hopefully I can keep the momentum up.

Christmas is nearly upon us. Sadly in Sydney the run up to Christmas has been marked by racism and violence on our beaches. The flashpoint for this rioting has been Cronulla beach. Sun and too much alcohol have seen the human condition sink to its lowest. Hopefully, things start to get quieter as Christmas approaches.

On another matter, that has disgusted me this month that cannot go without mention, the execution of Van Nguyen in Singapore. Van Nguyen was executed by hanging in Singapore on the 2nd December 2005. Singapore has to be ashamed of itself using such an archaic punishment on this man. This man should have been punished, but not by death. State-sponsored murder should not be tolerated. Grow-up Singapore!

I am looking forward to Christmas and to have some time off. I fly to New Zealand on the 2nd January to catch up with my family. I also have a my cousin’s wedding in Auckland. This will be an excellent time to catch up with the extended family.

I promise to blog more!

Bali Memorial Coogee Beach

As some of you know I live near Coogee beach in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. This morning I went for a walk to have another look at the Bali Memorial on Dolphin Point, near the Coogee beach. The memorial has had the photos of the victims added to it to mark the third anniversary of this terrible event (12th October 2002). Some of the flowers were still there and it was particularly moving to see tributes from parents of some of the victims.

Today is a study day, as I have another MCSE exam coming up while I am in Hong Kong. Wish me luck because I will need it!

Night Noodles

I finally got my Ipod Nano! It is a thing of beauty. Went to Night Noodles last night, the second time I have been. Night Noodles are part of the Good Food Month celebrations held each October in Sydney. Sydney is so fortunate to have some great events like these. This month is particularly dear to my heart as it involves food. The night was also a great time to catch up with my friend Nicole.

Free Work Lunch (Odd)

The reason I use the above heading is because any sort of free lunch working for the public service in Australia is a little odd.  However, it is a good development and it should be fun. Our fearless leader has also given us half a day off! Time for a bit of study this afternoon, then off to the Night Noodles with some friends.
